BukExchange Marketplace: Terms of Service

1. Introduction

1.1 BukExchange is an online marketplace connecting book buyers with independent booksellers (vendors) through our website (www.bukexchange.com) and mobile app.

1.2 These Terms govern your use of BukExchange as a:

  • Buyer (purchasing books)
  • Vendor (selling books)
  • Visitor (browsing without an account)

1.3 By using BukExchange, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, you must not use our platform.

1.4 For business/organizational users:

  • You confirm you have authority to bind your entity to these Terms.
  • “You” refers to both the individual and the entity.

2. Accounts

2.1 Eligibility

  • Must be 18+ years.
  • Vendors must provide valid business documentation (if applicable).

2.2 Account Security

  • Keep passwords confidential.
  • Notify us immediately at support@bukexchange.com if compromised.
  • You’re liable for unauthorized account activity.

2.3 Account Suspension/Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for:

  • Breach of these Terms
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Inactivity (3+ years)

To delete your account, email support@bukexchange.com.

3. Buying & Selling

For Buyers

3.1 Orders

  • Contracts form when you confirm purchase, directly with the vendor.
  • Prices include taxes (where stated). Shipping costs are vendor-set.

3.2 Payments

  • Processed securely via PayPal, Stripe, or bank transfer.
  • BukExchange never stores full card details.
For Vendors

3.3 Listings

  • Must be accurate, lawful, and book-specific (no counterfeit/unauthorized copies).
  • Warrant you own/have rights to sell listed books.

3.4 Shipping & Delivery

  • Vendors handle all logistics (BukExchange doesn’t manage deliveries).
  • Must provide tracking (if available).

4. Returns & Refunds

4.1 General Policy

  • Vendors set their own return policies (clearly stated per listing).
  • Most accept returns within 7–14 days for:
    • Damaged/defective books
    • Wrong items shipped

4.2 Process

  1. Contact the vendor via “My Orders”.
  2. Vendor approves/denies the return.
  3. Buyer ships back (costs may apply).

4.3 Refunds

  • Issued by the vendor within 5 business days of receiving returns.
  • BukExchange may mediate disputes (see Dispute Resolution Policy).

5. Content Rules

5.1 Prohibited Content

  • Fake/scam listings
  • Harassment, hate speech, or illegal material
  • Pirated/copyright-infringing books

5.2 Reviews

  • Must be honest and relevant.
  • No incentivized/fake reviews.

5.3 License
You grant BukExchange a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use/store content (e.g., reviews, listings) for platform operations.

6. Disclaimers & Liabilities

6.1 Marketplace Role

  • BukExchange is not a party to buyer-vendor transactions.
  • Vendors are solely responsible for:
    • Product quality
    • Shipping
    • Returns/refunds

6.2 Limitation of Liability
We’re not liable for:

  • Vendor actions/inactions
  • Shipping delays/losses
  • Indirect damages (lost profits, data loss)

6.3 Indemnification
You agree to compensate BukExchange for losses caused by your breach of these Terms.

7. Dispute Resolution

  • Step 1: Contact the vendor directly.
  • Step 2: Escalate to BukExchange via Dispute Resolution Policy.
  • Step 3: Legal action (if unresolved) under Nigerian law.

8. General

8.1 Updates
We may revise these Terms; changes take effect upon posting.

8.2 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Nigerian law. Disputes subject to Rivers State courts.
